45 Cheapside Street, Anderston, Glasgow.

Mr Hector Munro

Mr Hector Munro, Cheapside Street. 1887.

Hector Munro was large Scotsman born on the Isle of Skye, he was brought up on the family farm. When still a young boy his mother died, he was forced to work with is father to make ends meet. Hector came to Glasgow to find his fortune and worked in many pubs in the Garscube Road area. Mr Munro worked very hard and after 15 years experience behind the bar it was time to set up business for himself. Hector took over a pub in Cheapside Street which he conducted for many years. Business prospered this may have been due to the fact that there was only 3 pubs on Cheapside Street. Being a large and muscular Scotsman he took no lip from any drunk, he was known to through two or three drunks out on the street all on his own.
