Sanders, J. S.

May 25, 2017 by John Gorevan 1 Comment

23 Nicolson Street, Greenock.

Mr Sanders was a merry Englishman and having purchased around 1885 one of the oldest establishment pubs in Greenock. He soon made the old premises up-to-date after gutting it out and spending a fortune altering the pub. He took an active interest in the local Trade Associations and all things connected with the Trade. In his spare time he played Bowls which was very popular with the licensed trade member here and in Glasgow at that time. He was a prominent member of the Free Masons, and was always willing to speak out for the rights of the Licensed Trade in Greenock and surrounding area.
