It was the END of an era when the doors of the Queen’s Head bar in Berwick closed for the last time on Saturday,31st October 1970. Coincidental with the retirement of Berwick’s oldest licensee, 83 year old Mrs Hannah Grieve, Vaux have decided to close down the 200 year old pub.

Hannah, who had been behind the bar of the Queen’s Head bar for 41 years and had spent her whole life in the trade is pictured pulling the last pint of Guinness. 1970.
