John Cheyne was my papa. We used to go to owner’s home in Hamilton on a Sunday to get the keys, and at the grand age of 10, I had to muck in and help clean the place. I can’t remember owner’s name but at aged 10, ur going bk over 50 years. I’m 99% sure this was the pub. Then there was a laundrette just up from it. (That’s another story). Last time I was over that way I looked for the pub, and believe it to be here, as it had Horse in it’s name.
So the name Cheyne may be who you are looking for, but as said, I was young and didn’t pay much heed to older folk then. lol Could have been papa’s brother or cousin, but definitely related.
