With a frontage like this, this must have been a wonderful site for the locals of Blantyre when this building was erected in 1903.
This date can be seen from the Glasgow Road side of the building.
What an wonderful front this pub has got. It says come on in and give me a visit. The initials R C had been carved out of red sandstone.
This bar was once owed by my great grandfather Robert Craig. My grandmother, Jane (Jean) Craig married my grandfather and eventually she and my mother immigrated to the US. (My cousins are still in Glasgow.) We had an opportunity in 1999 to take my mother back to her grandfather’s pub and was treated very well by the owners. My children and I plan to visit again in the next few years. Glad to see it again!
