Royalty Burns Club Bowlers and Golfers.
The Royalty Burns Club was founded in 1882, but that it is a very lively nonagenarian was obvious at the annual dinner and dance in the Central Hotel, Glasgow, where a really festive atmosphere prevailed.
After the traditional meal Cliff Hanley took matters in hand in proposing “The Immortal Memory”, which proved to be only a peg on which to hang a racy speech packed with anecdotes which had the large company, as they say, “in stitches.”
The thanks to the orator was moved by Mr. Roy Grier and the toast of the Club was proposed by Mr. A. Shearer. A novel touch was provided by Mr. Robert S Millar and Mrs Margaret Skeoch, in proposing and acknowledging respectively the toast of “The Lasses,” for they both spoke in rhyme.
An appeal for Burns beneficiaries by Mr. O. G. Prosser brought in the record sum of £230. All in, it was a memorable occasion and great credit is due to Mr. C. R. Blues, the president, Mr. J. G. Jaap, hon, secretary, and the committee who organised the event.

The company of 130 made a record collection of £86 for the Burns benevolent, the appeal for which was made by Mr. A Laing (Sanderman and Sons).
