Mr Alexander Boyd Stevenson.

Alexander Boyd Stevenson better known in the early 1900s as “AB”. His father James was proprietor of the Kilbrachan Inn, Kilbrachan, where Alexander was born in the residential part of the inn, his father also having premises in Paisley and Greenock, he was also an agent for Messrs. William Whitelaw and son, brewers, Edinburgh, and Messrs. McLeay, Duff and Co. Glasgow.

At the age of twelve his parents moved to Paisley where he finished his education at grammar school. Any spare time he had he would be helping out in one of his fathers premises.

On leaving school he entered the employment of John Crawford & Co, manufacturers, Forbes Place, Paisley where he remained for three years, he then joined the staff at Lambie, Higgan and Connell, tapestry manufacturers, Causeyside, Paisley, were he remained for another three years after being for some time in the employment of Smith Bro’s, well known shawl manufacturers he headed of for Glasgow and joined the firm of Robert Mackay & Co. shawl and tweed manufacturers in Glassford Street.
