The Rob Roy Vaults at no66 Main Street was owned by Mr W M Dyer, there were three sitting-rooms simply furnished with table and cushioned chairs. Mr Dyer opened the Volunteer Inn, Mary Street, Motherwell. Mr Dyer was a member of several football clubs a keen bowler and both a Free Mason and an Odd Fellow, he had his own blend of Old Scotch Whisky called The Rob Roy.

Thank you for posting this. Mr Dyer, or William Lochead Dyer to give him his full name, was my great grandfather, on my mother’s side. He had long been associated with Cambuslang Football Club, one of the founder members of the Scottish Football League in 1890 and, had also been a referee.
