The Westering Winds at the Bridgegate was once called The Ambleside Arms owned by the Hurrel family. The founder Daniel Hurrel took over this old established pub in 1892.

The Hurrel’s are my family i never got to meet Daniel Hurrel my great granda and uncle,my granny Betty Hurrel passed 3 yrs before I was born it was just my uncle Danny falsey i had growing up loved him dearly, my mum was Sheila Hurrel my mum worked in the two Betty’s bars in Gallowgate and Elliott st at clyde,she met her husband in there Frank Hollywood her soul mate they are buried together now.
