In 1891 there was a pub at the corner of Oswald Street known as the Lighthouse Vaults, formerly owned by Mr Dow. Mr Graham took over the pub in 1891, he made internal improvements, having cleared away the old box-rooms in front of the bar and fitted up neat little counter tables instead.
