First impression on this pub looked very promising.
The exterior had been recently painted, interior was clean with an fresh aroma of cleaning products. There is a nice gantry with modern cast iron tables and chairs around the pub and the staff all wore matching uniforms. Football pictures decorate the walls, accompanied by large TVs with horse racing.
We ordered a few drinks that were cheap and had a seat. My father started to take some pictures of the interior of the pub and was shouted at by one of the regulars and confronted him aggressively, face to face looking for a fight (with a disabled man).
The bar staff came over when the man had calmed down and instead of putting the man out, told us not to take photos again and made us out to be the people who were in the wrong… What a disgrace! I popped off to the toilet before we left to have bugs running across the wall in front of me.
We had had enough! The bar staff told us if we wanted to review and take photos in the future, we had to meet with the owner and come in at 11am to do so and were not allowed to do it otherwise.
The one thing that we always say is that it’s the punters that make your pub. If your punters want to fight with disabled people that come in for a quiet pint and you don’t have a problem with that, then you won’t be around for very much longer.
I hope you will all share this page and not fall for the inviting exterior, only to end the night on a downer.
