Wigtown Pubs
Owner Dies in Hotel Blaze. 1970.
Mr. Hamish McLauchlan, owner of the Grapes Hotel, Wigtown, died last week in a blaze which swept through his premises. He was alone at the time of the blaze.
The alarms was raised at 3.30 a.m. by Mrs. Mary Ferries, who lived next door to the Grapes Hotel. After smelling smoke she woke up her husband, Alfred, who called the fire brigade. The hotel was badly damaged. Mrs McLauchlin was spending the week-end with relatives in Newton Stewart.

This popular bar is situated on the Main Street on the opposite side from Angels.
It is mainly a mans pub, very clean and a good pint is served.
