The Gallery. 1991.
Situated under the Hielanman’s Umbrella in Argyle Street this was once a favourite haunt with many Glaswegian known as the Tropic’s. I passed this pub a few months ago and it was closed down.
Now Called Archie’s. Tel: as above.
I used to go to a pub in the same exact place back in early 2000s but I’m sure it wasn’t called this..It was very dark and the side window was in the station and entrance under the bridge. Was this only ever called the gallery? Cheers
Was called the Hielanman’s bar Elaine
It was called Tropics I worked in it from it opening till it closed .It was very popular we had resident DJ on every weekend Gary Moore .They used to queue up every weekend to get in
I worked there too for a while in 87. I remember Jim ( girlfriend was Maltese I think)and Mari the manager. I remember you!
I made up mix tapes for playing when the DJ wasn’t in. Sound system was fantastic. I left them behind when I left 😞
Used to drink in here with the ASC before smashing up Celtic and rangers.
Drank in here when it was called hielanmans bar before going to either bonkers , penelopes or destiny etc late 90s . Take me back ! Good Times!
