Glasgow is Scotland’s go-to destination for Hen Dos with an abundance of things to do for those who love the adrenaline-pumping activities like Go Karting and paintball and there are LOADS of pubs and clubs to drink to your heart’s content.
In this post, I have listed a few things that I would recommend to do around the city to make your Hen Do in Glasgow, one to remember!
Self Guided Pub Crawls
There are so many pubs in Glasgow that it can be quite confusing to find the right pubs to chose when visiting Glasgow, but thankfully I have created a guide to the best pubs in Glasgow for a Hen Do, depending on what your group likes!
Sightseeing
A Hen Do isn’t all about the drinking and dancing (Although, that is the majority of it!), in your downtime, it is always great to see some sights in the city and stretch those legs so that they are ready for the late-night dancing!
The Glasgow Necropolis
There are many different places in Glasgow that are steeped in history that I would recommend visiting. Probably my favourite place in the city is the Glasgow Necropolis in the East End of the City. It is a fantastic cemetery next to where the old Glasgow Castle once stood. When you reach the top of this unique walk, you get a great view of the city AND when you finish, you are right next to the Wellpark Brewery (Tennents) where you can do a tour, or just have a few pints in the Drygate!
George Square
At the heart of the city, we have George Square, the hub of the city that is surrounded by great architecture including the City Chambers, Queen Street Station and The Counting House pub, just to name a few. Just off of the square, there is the iconic Duke of Wellington statue that has a cone on his head!
George square is the perfect starting point for any Hen Do, basically, you can do in any direction and find a new pub to drink in!
Kelvingrove
It is quite a challenge to find a place in Glasgow that is quite as tranquil as Kelvingrove in Glasgow’s West End. Whether you want to stroll through the Kelvingrove park in the sun with a bottle of Irn Bru to help cure that hangover or you want to experience the Art Gallery or some of the independent bistros and shops, Kelvingrove is the place to be.
Once again… there are a LOAD of Pubs that you can visit during your wanderings around the area!
Brewery and Distillery Tours
Nothing quite beats a trip to one of the breweries or distilleries on a Hen Do to see how your favourite beverage is made, before sampling some of the drinks for the rest of the night. Glasgow has a few options in the city that will satisfy your thirst for knowledge and alcohol!
Tennents
I had mentioned before about the Wellpark brewery that is located in the East end of the City next to the Glasgow Necropolis. This brewery makes the world-famous Tennents lager that I am sure you will have tasted at some point! The tour takes you throughout the factory giving you a glimpse into how the famous lager is made as well as some of the history behind the brand. There is even a unique gift shop at the end when you get to sample the lager! Click here to view their website.
WEST Brewery
The West Brewery is located in the old Templeton Carpet Factory at Glasgow Green and has become a favourite in Glasgow. The Brewery is well-known for its selection of beers including the St Mungo beer (It is delicious). The Tour takes you into their microbrewery to show you their process and meet their team and best of all, the site has a restaurant AND bar so you can start your day off at the one place.
If you have a nice day, you will be in great luck at the WEST brewery too because they have a MASSIVE beer garden that you can soak in the sun while sipping on your micro-brewed beer.

Clydeside Distillery
For those of us with a more ‘sophisticated pallet’, the Clydeside Distillery is a fantastic tour that will open your mind and excite the senses. The distillery is on the Clydeside (River Clyde) where the whisky trade in Scotland was exported to the world! The modern look of this building can be deceiving, but this area is steeped in history as you will find out on their tour.

Eating Out
Glasgow has a fantastic food scene to cater to almost anyone’s tastes and preferences from meat-eaters to Vegans to Gluten-free, there is something for everyone in the city! There are too many great restaurants to mention them all, but here are a couple of my favourites:
Rogano
Located just off of Buchanan Street in Glasgow’s City Centre, Rogano is an ideal restaurant for those that wish to experience one of Glasgow’s oldest restaurants. Stepping through the doors of this great restaurant feels like taking a step back in time. This restaurant is perfect for seafood lovers too as it has a great menu that is unrivalled in the whole of Glasgow!
Sloans
Located just off of Argyle Street, Sloans is titled as Glasgow’s oldest bar and restaurant combination (Although not the oldest bar in the city). The restaurant’s courtyard and feel is something quite magical and is certainly somewhere that you need to visit on your Hen Do to Glasgow! A very nice menu that should suit almost everyone, but it is well-known in Glasgow for their Mac & Cheese!
Exciting Experiences
Of course, there wouldn’t be a Hen Do without something that gets the adrenaline pumping. Thankfully there are a few activities in Glasgow that can satisfy your need for speed and action!
Indoor Go Karting
There are two petrol karting locations in Glasgow that you can put the pedal to the metal and burn some rubber on the tracks together.
Scotkart in Cambuslang has a multi-level wooden-floored track to drift around the corners and is located close to Cambuslang and Newton Train Stations
Scotkart in Clydebank that has the fastest track in Glasgow with their concrete flooring that will see you flying down the straights! The Clydebank track is located very close to Yoker train station too! Regardless of the location, this will bring out your competitive side. There can be only one winner!
Laser Tag in Glasgow
As well as the indoor karting above, we also have two very different and very exciting laser tag experiences in Glasgow too!
Combat City Cambuslang is an outdoor military style laser tag experience based on First-Person shooter games like Call of Duty and Fortnite that is guaranteed to bring out the army sergeants in your group! Get kitted out in camo overalls and hide in metal containers and a whole lot of other buildings and structures!
Lazer Planet is a traditional indoor laser tag arena that feels like you have been transported back in time to the ’90s or early ’00s with old school laser guns that are maintained to a high standard, multi-level arena with a tower in the middle and fluorescent lights, you will relive your childhood with Laser Planet for your Hen Do!
Airsoft
If you haven’t played airsoft yet, then you are missing out! Forget paintball where you have to wear big chunky face masks that constantly fog up and get covered in paint, instead opt for Airsoft to experience how paintball should really feel!
Airsoft uses electric or gas-powered, realistic-looking guns that fire small pellets (Like high powered BB guns) and you only need to wear safety glasses, so you can always see what you are doing! Don’t worry though… shots from these guns still hurt, but are A LOT cheaper, so you don’t mind rattling a few extra bullets into the Hen! Click here to visit Section 8’s Airsoft site.
