The Quarter Gill – 1973-1962 Licence Holder Sidney Reid (not Sydney)
hi im writing a paper on the Quarter Gill and im looking for as much information as i can on it and i was wondering if you could answer some questions for me.
Like did Sidney Reid buy the pub or did he make it in to a pub?
What year did he sell the pub and who to?
If you could answer these questions for me it would be much appreciated
Hi. I worked part time 1976/77 so probably cannot help you specifically but the years showing as owned by Sid as 62 to 73 seem odd in that in my time, Sid was very much the owner. Thats not to say the licence was not passed to say, eg possibly his wife. I was on shift for the very first Scottish Sunday opening. My trade job took off and i left his employ 1977 only to meet him and Margaret, his wife, in their new venture in PdC, Lanzarote around 1985.
