John, Prior to being named The Three Judges, this pub was known as The Kelvin. A bit of debate among my friends but some of us think that it was twice named the Kelvin having spent a short interim period known as something else which we can’t remember. Prior to this period, it was known as Bennett’s in the 1970’s and was renowned for the its handling of Guinness. I have noted a posting elsewhere on the web which refers to it as Bennett’s Tower Bar. I must assume that the Tower Bar part of the title predates the 1970’s.
If you have any queries about west end or city centre pubs maybe my friends and I might have some recollections to assist (we’re all upwards of 60!). Regards Jim
