END.
In 1959/60 I was apprentice at Richards Shipyard in Lowestoft from where I was sent to John Browns yard to fit shell hoist to a tribal class frigate.
In the evenings we used a pub which was on the Glasgow / Clydebank boundary, which I think was the Mc Cowdor Vaults? I will always remember it as it would empty around 9.20 when everybody would go to the pub opposite which was on the Clydebank side of the boundary,
The pub on the actual boundary was the Lovat Arms, it was a very small one story white building. Across the road, next to the petrol station and heading towards Clydebank was the Cawdor Vaults which opened in 1959.
It had previously been located in the old tenement building beside it at 590 Glasgow Road. It was called the Cawdor Castle. Both were managed by Frank Scott.
